Teton Valley Celebrates Truly Old-Fashioned July 4th

The Teton Valley Summer Festival from July 1 to 4 is truly one of the few surviving, truly old-fashioned July 4th Celebrations in the country.

This is the Teton Valley Chamber of Commerce’s 29th annual family-friendly Independence Day holiday event.

Among the events are an old-fashioned parade, rodeo, fireworks, arts and crafts fair and the always-spectacular balloon festival in Driggs, Tetonia and Victor, ID, all in the proverbial shadows of the dramatic Teton Mountain Range in Eastern Idaho.

Parking is $5/car and breakfast is $5/person. Balloon rides are $200/person and may be reserved by contacting the Chamber at 208-354-2500.

Friday’s highlights include the balloons’ morning launch, a free guided wildflower walk Friday afternoon and the Tetonia Rodeo from 7-10 pm. Saturday will serve up the traditional parade in Victor at 10:30 am, a symphony concert followed by fireworks at Huntsman Springs, as well as the morning balloon rally, the Mountain Arts & Crafts Fair and the Antiques and Fine Arts Show.

Teton Valley is located immediately west of Grand Teton National Park and Jackson Hole and 2 hours south of Yellowstone National Park.

Other activities available throughout the summer season are downhill and cross-country mountain biking , hiking and backpacking in Grand Teton National Park and the Jed Smith Wilderness, fishing and floating on the Teton River that wends through the valley, horseback riding, scenic air and glider flights, a digital drive-in theater and frequent sightings of deer, bear, moose and others.
