Montana Events and Festivals

High Steppin' & Road Trippin’ in Montana
In Montana, locals weather six months of rugged beauty (read: snow & ice) for the gift of summer in Big Sky Country. Like annual rites of passage, they await certain perennial shindigs that punctuate Montana’s warm season calendars. Visitors, however, can zero-in on specific, summery dates and tap into the heart of Montana's cultural pulse.
Here’s a short list of some of Montana’s most anticipated events in the coming season.
The Beartooth Highway is celebrating its 75th anniversary. This iconic, alpine ribbon of road connects Red Lodge, MT with Cooke City, MT at the northeast entrance to Yellowstone National Park and they’ll be celebrating the Highway’s 75th anniversary there from June 10 to 12.
After three wildly successful years of hosting the National Folk Festival, the denizens of Butte have decided to carry on the tradition by kicking off the 1st annual Montana Folk Festival. Featuring multiple stages with continuous musical performances by performers from across the nation, festivalgoers can tap into folk artists, great ethnic foods and a lively family area from July 8 to 10.
Red Ants Pants, makers of work wear for real women, are throwing a mid-summer bash that’s not to be missed. Dubbed a “dance your pants off” gathering to celebrate the hard working side of Montana, performers like Jerry Jeff Walker, Guy Clark and many others will take the stage on the Jackson Ranch outside of White Sulphur Springs, MT from July 29 to 31.
The Crown of the Continent Guitar Foundation brings together the finest guitar playing and one of the most exquisite natural landscapes in the world. These two passions – music & nature – take center stage at the Flathead Lake Lodge in Bigfork during this weeklong workshop and festival from August 28 to September 4.
The Going To The Sun Rally is a charitable event for vintage sports car enthusiasts. This year’s Rally from September 8 to 13 starts and finishes in Montana’s capital city of Helena by way of Waterton, Canada and Whitefish, Montana.
