Pottery Festival Keeps Tradition Alive

Take the opportunity to celebrate the local history of pottery at the annual Tradition Turners Pottery Festival at the West Lincoln Middle School, Lincolnton, North Carolina on Saturday October 8 from 10am to 4pm.
An indoor event, there will be 60 potters, both local and from across the southeast.  All hand crafted pottery is on the wheel or by hand. There’ll be potters’ demonstrations throughout the day, and food on site.
This festival is in its second year and was started by a local group of pottery enthusiasts. Its goal is to promote the local craft of pottery carried on for many years in the area. The Vale community is located in the Catawba Valley Pottery Region. There is a rich history of men who have carried on the old-fashioned style of pottery-making. Within a distance of 50 miles from West Lincoln Middle School, you can find over a hundred potters busy at the wheel, whether as full time artists or as hobbyists.
A variety of styles can be found in this one day show – from everyday useful things such as coffee mugs and serving platters to whimsical triple face jugs and roosters.
This is a great time for holiday shopping, adding to your personal pottery collection or just to learn more about pottery, and it’s a good family day trip. Admission $5 and includes a chance at the many pottery donated door prizes. The festival supports the West Lincoln Middle School.
The guiding principle of the Tradition Turners Pottery Festival is to keep the tradition of pottery alive for future generations. For more information visit TraditionTurnersPotteryFestival.com
